Why an author website, not just a publisher page
Your publisher's author page covers one book in a few lines. It changes when the publisher redesigns its site, and it often disappears when the book goes out of print.
An author website is yours. It sits on your own domain, gives every book its own page, and gives readers, journalists, podcast hosts and event organisers one place to learn about you, buy the book and get in touch.
Author website design here means the whole job: book pages, bios, press kit, speaking page, every word of copy, and the setup that helps Google and AI tools recognise you and your titles.
What your author website includes
Your book, front and centre
Cover, one-line hook and a buy button above the fold, so a reader who heard you on a podcast can order in one click.
A page for every book
Summary, praise, awards, translations and links to several retailers, not just a single Amazon listing.
The research behind the book
Shows readers and reviewers the body of work your book stands on, which publisher pages never do.
A press kit journalists can use
Short and long bio, headshots and topics in one place, so launch coverage uses your words.
Talks that turn into bookings
Talk topics, video and an enquiry form, so organisers who read the book can book you straight away.
Nothing for you to write
I draft every page from your book, papers and interviews. You read it, mark changes, and approve.

How it works
- 1
Free preview
Tell me about your book. I design two sections of your site, usually the homepage and book page, within 2 working days.
- 2
Decide
If you like the direction, you get a fixed quote. If not, that is the end of it.
- 3
Build and write
I write every page and build the full site, ideally months before launch, so Google has already found it.
- 4
Launch and care
The site goes live on your own domain. With year-round care, new reviews, interviews and events are added within days.
In their own words
Akanksha understands very well the different dimensions of an academic website. Whether it is for book launches, for speaker inquiries, for companies looking for thought leaders, for journalists looking for expert commentaries or for dissemination of academic publications, I recommend her without hesitation.

What should an author website include?
A homepage led by your latest book, a separate page for each book with praise and buy links, an about page with short and long bios, a press kit, a speaking or events page, and a simple contact route.
Do academic authors need their own author website?
Yes, if you want readers, journalists and organisers to find you. Publisher author pages are thin, cover one book and often disappear when it goes out of print. Your own site covers all your books and the research behind them, and it stays yours.
When should I set up my author website?
Ideally six months or more before your book comes out, so Google has already indexed it and it can capture interest as soon as publicity starts. A backlist book still benefits.
How much does an author website cost?
A one-time fee to design and build the site, with optional annual maintenance. You get a fixed quote after you've seen your free two-section preview.
Should my author website use my name or my book title?
Your name. You will write more books, and a name-based domain holds all of them. A book-title domain can point to its page on your main site.
Do I need to write anything?
No. I write all the copy from your book, papers, talks and interviews. You review and approve.
Will my author website show up on Google?
Every site is built to be found: fast pages, clear structure and structured data for you and each book, so Google and AI tools such as ChatGPT can recognise you and your titles.
